About

Nicholas Thatcher
Texas Attorney | Master Peace Officer | Community Advocate

With over 18 years of dedicated service in law enforcement and a license to practice law in Texas, I bring a unique combination of operational experience, legal knowledge, and a deep commitment to public service.

In 2007, I began my law enforcement career in South Carolina before joining the Deer Park Police Department in 2009, where I have served in diverse roles ranging from Patrol Officer to Detective and Hostage and Crisis Negotiator. Today, I serve as a School Resource Officer, building bridges between law enforcement and the next generation while ensuring safe learning environments for students and educators alike.

Throughout my career, I have specialized in complex investigations — from crimes against children to narcotics and organized crime — earning the rank of Master Peace Officer, the highest proficiency certification awarded by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. As a crisis negotiator, I have honed my communication and problem-solving skills, helping to defuse high-stakes situations and protect lives.

I earned my Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and became a licensed Texas attorney. This next chapter allows me to expand my impact by integrating my investigative experience with legal advocacy, whether in criminal law, community policy, or broader justice initiatives.

At the core of my work is a belief in service, integrity, and community trust. Whether mentoring students, supporting families in crisis, or standing alongside my colleagues on the front lines, I am dedicated to using my experience and legal training to make a positive difference.
